Re: Re: DO I HAVE TO DEAL WITH CA? I have spoken w/ the SL lenders and even the Dept. of Ed's ombudsman's office and they all say that the negative info is CORRECT IN STAYING ON MY REPORT after rehab. My question is why the hell would someone want to rehab if it makes a CR look like garbage anyway. SOOOOOO PISSED OFF!!
Re: Re: DO I HAVE TO DEAL WITH CA? Tiger... Maybe you lucked out but the HEA states the only way to clear the default is to go the rehab route. I offered to payoff (in lump sum) 2 of my federal Stafford loans and was told I could do that and that it would obviously take it out of default BUT the I9 rating history would remain on my reports. I subsequently went the rehab route and all negs were removed after 14th month. HOWEVER, if the loan was held by multiple servicers, the only servicer required to drop the negatives is the one who holds the loan when you rehab it. Past servicers are not REQUIRED to drop the negatives. I think they are encouraged to do so though in the spirit of the rehab program.
