Ok here's the deal. Don't know how many of you guys know me, but I post at creditnet.net, creditboards.com and at creditinfocenter.com. Consider me your insider. I work for a CA. I am getting ready to go to a new job though, and I only have 2.5 days left (today, friday, and sunday) before my new job starts. I recently got moved to a Discover card project working on accounts that are pre-charge off (150 days+). Here's what I'm going to do: starting tomorrow, I want to help as many of you as possible if you are in a position to settle your Discover card account. No strings attached. I can settle between 30-50%, depending on how long your account has been opened, and what your score is (internal discover card score). No gimmicks, no games. If your account can be settled for, let us say, 35% I will do that and not charge you a penny more. If you doubt my sincerity, let me just state (and I hope someone [perhaps another collection agent or someone who was in the past] will verify this) that I will NOT receive any type of bonus for this, as my last day with this company will be 7/27 and you don't get paid a bonus with a CA if you quit before the end of the month. I just want to do what I can to help. I will not be doing any of this until tomorrow, starting at 8AM. If you are interested in this, you can either email me at dan@themarshallhome.com or I will be starting a thread in my forum at http://www.themarshallhome.com/forum (in the credit section) that you will need to register (for free, the registration process is very much like this site, and your information is strictly confidential) for. Here is how I would like the process to work if you want to do this via my forum: register, post a message to the board in the appropriate thread, I will then private message you (it is important that when you sign up you set your preferences to allow PMs) with my work phone # and direct extension. I will NOT post it here, or in any other thread. A quick recap: - If you want to settle your account, I will help you and let you settle for the absolute minimum. - I CANNOT not, repeat CANNOT, delete a tradeline from a CBR. I wish I could, but I am a lackey and I don't have the authority to do so. - If you want to take advantage of this, the ONLY 2 ways to do so will be to either email me at dan@themarshallhome.com or register on my forum at http://www.themarshallhome.com/forum, go into the credit forum, post a message saying that you would like to settle your discover card. I will allow this via proxy (not internet-ally speaking but meaning if you know or are related to someone that wants to settle their discover account but cannot email me or access the internet). The reason I am being so stringent in my guidelines on how to do this is because I don't know how many people are going to do this. I am going to post this on several boards so I can't really watch all replies to like 3 different message boards. I just want to make sure I don't get overwhelmed. You may ask yourself why I am doing this. Well it's quite simple. I like a lot of you guys (hi psychdoc, nanasi, and picantel ;-)) and I really hate the company I work for. You may or may not believe me, but I am absolutely sincere in my intentions, and I will NOT misrepresent the truth to you. Good luck to you all, and I look forward to doing something good while I'm at work for a change. Charles Daniel Marshall
It sounds like you are offering a fair service, but I would change your tagline if I were you! Some of us can actually translate it...
LOL Good point, although I have had that sig line for god knows how long. Before that it was a quote from Ayn Rand. I mean it more towards religion than anything else. Good catch though! Please disregard my sig!
This would take alot of trust by who ever needs something like this. I personally wouldn't trust this, but thats just me. Be careful who you give your personal information to.
I wholeheartedly agree. But I assure I have no sinister intentions. If you question my sincerity/validity, here are some of my posts from the creditboards I frequent: Creditnet.com posts Creditboards.com posts Creditinfocenter.com posts I agree that this is not definitive proof that I am a decent and honest person, but consider this: if I were interested in scamming people somehow, would I have used an email address that points to my own personal domain name (themarshallhome.com) which is easily backtraced to my home address via a whois search (like http://www.wwhois.com)? For that matter would I have used my full name? I appreciate your skepticism, as I am a skeptic by nature as well (also I am highly cynical). I truly am trying to help. If you or other people choose not to take advantage of it I understand completely. I just felt that I would put the offer on the table and if even one person settles their account with me, it will be worth it to me. I just know that it is very hard to get a fair and honest deal in ANYTHING, especially when it comes to credit related issues. Just trying to help in any way possible!
Sorry double post. It's storming here in good ole Hilliard Ohio and (whether or not that is the cause or not) the internet is going s l o w if you get my drift. hit the submit button twice.
Chuck, As a real "newbie" to this board and a novice to the laws of credit and collection I must say I would be very leary of your offer......not to say you are not a decent and honest person but most of us are here because we have not been able to successfully deal with CRA's and CA's.... I would suggest, like the others, that you be very careful of revealing personal information, my understanidng is that these boards are monitered by some unscrupulous individuals... Good luck, I hope you can help some of the people here.
Re: Re: I Will Settle Your Discover Card!!! I understand your skepticism. You don't know me. I don't feel that anyone is obligated to take advantage of this, but I just felt that it was the right thing to do to at least make the offer. As far as people who "monitor" these boards, **** em. All of us have the law on our side.
Re: Re: I Will Settle Your Discover Card!!! Chuck- Please translete your latin sig for me. Also - what was your old sig w/ the Ayn quote?
Re: Re: I Will Settle Your Discover Card!!! Populus vult decipi, ergo decipiatur "people want to be deceived, therefore let them be deceived"
Re: Re: I Will Settle Your Discover Card!!! ...AND I CAN'T EVEN GET A "PRE-APPROVED" LIMIT INCREASE IN OVER 2 YEARS FROM DISCOVERCARD???
Re: Re: Re: I Will Settle Your Discover Card!!! It was the quote off the front page of http://www.aynrand.org
Re: Re: Re: I Will Settle Your Discover Card!!! So you're asking people, contrary to the advice given by most posters on these boards, to settle with you for NO deletion? Sounds like a sweet deal to me!
Re: Re: Re: I Will Settle Your Discover Card!!! He's not asking, he's offering. He also was very upfront that he does not have the authority to delete.
Re: Re: Re: I Will Settle Your Discover Card!!! I know Chuck {in a cyber sense} from a couple of different sites and he's always been upfront about his job and has answered a lot of questions about collections. Not making any recommendations here but, Discover has a reputation of eventually getting around to suing. This might be a time to cut your losses before it goes R9 and then maybe you can dispute it away. Just something to consider.
Re: Re: Re: I Will Settle Your Discover Card!!! Absolutely! These are pre-charge off accounts. Not charged off and sold. You folks are hopeless skeptics, LOL. You chased Anne off the board when she wanted to interview people for Smart Money Mag, and WE got the national publicity because we did interviews. Now you are discouraging people who may very much want a way out from taking this one? Discover sues. And no matter what you do about the account, they don't delete. They're mean.
Re: Re: Re: I Will Settle Your Discover Card!!! breeze, you are correct, BUT just because someone says they want to help doesn't mean they really want to. I would rather be safe than sorry, but then again I don't have Discover coming after me. That might change things for me.
Re: Re: Re: Re: I Will Settle Your Discover Card!!! We thought she wanted to interview smart people for her magizine. LOLOL Actually I do live EXACTLY 10 minutes from Chuck. I've looked around on here and followed his links. It's certainly not like he's hiding. If I had a Discover account that needed settled I WOULD at least talk to him. Besides, anyone who's a friend of Ayn Rand's is probably ok.
Re: Re: Re: Re: I Will Settle Your Discover Card!!! He sounds very trustworthy to me and time is running out. If I had a Discover card I would probably take his offer. =)
