I filed for bankruptcy a few months ago but changed my mind and decided to make a nominal payment to all cc debt not past sol. A week ago I received all sorts of "deals" from oc's and ca's because they have just learned I filed for bankruptcy. I would like to pay these debts, as I have in the past but I would like to know if this is going to buy me any time. I guess I'm asking if they'll soon get the word I've changed my mind about filing for bk. The creditors think it's bk7, although I wouldn't have qualified. It probably would have been bk13.
You are probably geting the offers because creditors frequently buy lists of recent BK filers. They know that you cannot file BK for another 6 years, so they are eager to "sign you up" for new credit, but at high interest rates and fees, and ridiculous terms. Any credit card debts you owed before you filed are still owed since your case was dismissed
Actually, my case wasn't dismissed because it didn't even get that far. I changed my mind before it ever went before a trustee. Anyway, I'm just going to pay what I can and hope not too many people sue.
check your CR's...I hope you do not end up with an entry that you filed BK that will tank your scores!
