I have read all over this board and I am still confused. PLease can someone give me an example of the letter I should write to Original Creditors showing charge offs. These are my debts what is the letter I write to them to get a chance deletion. DO I sign the letter? Do I threaten to sue them.? DO I give them time limits? DO I include account numbers? DO I include my SSN? No body ever comes out and says write this letter on this board.
... and for good reason. If they are your accounts have you tried the "friendly" approach, to ask them to remove any derog info if you pay it? Has it gone to a 3rd party CA? How old is it and how much? What kind of debt? Open or Written Contract? Lots to learn. Here's a homework item for ya: http://consumers.creditnet.com/stra...eadid=43909&highlight=learn+AND+your+AND+fcba Welcome to the board.
Re: Re: I would like a straight answer 3rd party CA = 3rd party debt collector, or simply a collection agency. Anybody trying to collect that isn't the original creditor.
I agree, when you ask a question here you don't get a straight answer most times. I think the site is somewhat helpful but there is also alot of conflicting answers.
I think this site is great! Just remember, some have been here FOREVER and are continuously answering the same exact questions over and over again which becomes tiring, especially when the answers are already posted. I know it's easier to just ask and get a reply right away, but you should try and "search" the site first and read, then if you're stuck, ask a specific question and someone is sure to help you....
Re: Re: I would like a straight answer There is not much definitive in credit repair. One letter will work once, and someone will send the same letter to the same place, and it doesn't work. Sometimes its the luck of the draw, whether its a full moon, or if the human on the receiving end of the letter is having a good or bad day. Thats why you get "vague" answers, and conflicting information
Re: Re: I would like a straight answer Don't use the FCBA for charge-offs, the debts are too old and fall outside of the applicable timeframes. No one should use any letter, nor cut and paste someone else's letter and attempt to pass it off as their own without understanding what underlies it. OC's are responsible for the information they furnish for reporting under the FCRA Section 623. If you understand that section, you'll understand what to communicate, how and when. Do you need a link to the FCRA? Have you read the FAQ and sticky threads? The answers are all here and there's no shortcut where homework is concerned. Without a foundational understanding of the system, you shouldn't send any letter at all. Sassy
Re: Re: I would like a straight answer I am leery of someone with three posts asking for a letter and questions like that anyway. I think we all recommend you read the primer and FAQ section first, that will help you get started. It will take time and patience to achieve your goal. And postive tradelines.
Re: Re: I would like a straight answer I only have a few posts and i'm thankful no one was leery of me. Some of us just need help w/ clarification and I found myself in a rush to answer and correct whatever problems could happen. Butch gave us some well heeded advise...SLOW DOWN! There is allot of info available on this site and others...we're not all "in the law". I appreciate the answers i received to some questions and i'll start with info sassy recommended for more
Re: Re: I would like a straight answer There are lots of answers hereroblem is you haven't been around long enough to learn much yet.
Re: Re: I would like a straight answer A huge part of learning, aside from the studying part, is asking questions, lots of em. It's not fair of us to insist that everyone study hard and ask questions, and then when they do, feel "leary". Although I do understand Annies point. We have the law on our side so who cares if the inquirer is a spy? Puts a new member in a tough spot don'tcha think? So I try to answer as many questions as I can. Just take your time and proceed carefully. That's all I'm sayin.
Re: Re: I would like a straight answer BTW - hey Brownie, Who is the author of the piece on AOL in your sig line? ???
Re: Re: I would like a straight answer Personally I wouldn't waste my time with letters. I know people don't like that but the time for letters is when you get a lawyer involved. Those are the letters that count and carry weight. How many letters do you think one person can read in one day? If I worked for a CA your letters would not get read believe me. Now you get me on the phone and if your tone is nice and cordial. then I moght be able to assist you. Every CRA rep I've spoken to has been pleasant and given me what I asked for.

Re: Re: Re: I would like a straight answer I'm glad you're not collecting from me SoPark. You and I would be meeting soon.
