Hi All, Hope someone can shed some light. March of 2001 I discovered someone fraudulently used my personal information to open an finance account with Dell Financial Services. Soon after the incident I contacted the rightful people and cleared everything out and added Fraud alert with all three credit bureau. Experian in particular send me a new credit report to show the charge off has been cleared. Come this March as I was checking my credit report, the same charge off showed up on Experian report. I reported the finding to Experian and they ask me to send them prove that it was not my account. I also called DFS and they said it was the same account from 2001 and I should not be responsible for it. They send me another letter explaining the situation and that I should be release from any relation to the account. Few days after I sent Experian the same letter I sent back in 2001, (I didn't wait for the second letter from DFS) their response is to remain the charge off on my credit report. What can I do from this point? Would send them the new letter from DFS help clear this out or would it be a waste of time once they reach their conclusion? Any suggestion is greatly appreciated. Thanks, jonaB
How did you get that response Jona? Did they send a letter or document that states it will remain? It would be helpful to put your letter right here, word for word, so we can see it. Also did you get a notice from them stating that an item has been re-inserted? Here's yet another clasic example of Exp. refusing to accept evidence from the consumer. Here's a thread for you to study: http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&postid=342939#post342939 Oh - welcome to the board Jona.
I did not receive any letter regarding the charge off being reinsterted. I found out about it because I was going through refinance and was rejected. I receive the letter of rejection from the lender and along with it a link to obtain a credit report from Experian. Few days after I sent the letter from DSF to Experian, I simply received a new credit report and the item has the status of 'remain'. Do you think I should send them the second letter I received recently from DFS? I don't want to make the matter worst if sending them the recent letter from DFS wouldn't help. I need to get this clear out soon so I can proceed with my re-fi. Thanks for any input.
