Ok. I've had an odd change in my TU report.

My home address is now in Hingham, Ma.
    I still live in Atlanta...

I am going through several thoughts:

    1. TU screwed up again and confused my file.
(I already have a warning and a consumer statement on my report about identity confusion) but normally it's my Mom so I recognize the info
    2. Someone applied as me with another address
    3. One of my accounts had the address changed and they tape updated the new wrong address (trying to get my card sent to them)

    So I
called every card, all is fine and I added a security word to my credit card accounts and I joined the Amex credit registry thing... will look tonight and see if it's worth it. It provides insurance in case of fraud not paid for elsewhere...I was vulnerable when they sold me on it... any thoughts on their protection service??? oh, and I
    got irritated...

I already have identity warnings on all my reports so I don't know that I can add any other alerts... they haven't stopped me one bit from getting credit (even instant) and no creditor has ever called to verify my application...

any thoughts how else my address could change? My real address is now listed as my former address... as though I moved...

or any other thoughts on what could be happening? I'm trying to track the address and am coming up with nothing...

TU was closed when I found this, so can't yet call them for research. First thing in the morning, they'll be hearing from me...

meanwhile, my b.s. TU score went up since January... not that it's real or matters :) I am in George's mood now...

looks like you've taken the appropriate precautions. i wouldn't worry, this has happened to me before. i live in CA, once my TU report said i lived in NY! i never dipsuted it, the next report i received it was gone.

just continue to check your CR's.

    Marie,
I truly hope you are not going to get caught up in the nightmare I've been in for 3 yrs with an identity mixup. In my case it still continues and there doesn't seem to be a solution. You need to find out just WHO lives at the address that showed up by any means possible. That's how I found out exactly why there is a mixup for me and have even spoken to the woman. It is not her fault but rather the fault of the creditors and cra's. It is possible you have the same situation as I do but it is also possible that there is real fraud, too.

This has been my 'neverending story' and I hope it doesn't become yours, too. The best I can do is closely monitor everything and raise heck each time it happens. The alerts don't keep the problem at bay.

I am beginning to have very strong feelings for TU... I was doing a spreadsheet of my revolving ratios and the little errors I thought didn't add up to much actually make me consistently look 25 percent more utilized than I ever really am...

and the ratios that do show are just revolving balances that don't disappear... well, you guys know how it works.

anyway, now I know why I get hit with the reason code about ratios... the good news is nobody but Nextcard even touches them here...

The same happened to me with TransUnion recently
My former address changed to a West Virginia address. And I never lived on that state.

When I pulled my TU in mid-March they changed my home phone on me.

Traveler's offers real ID theft insurance - it covers your legal expenses, time off from work, etc. You choose the amount of coverage. I got it from the Citibank site - they just spun Traveler's off as a separate company - I find that amusing - Traveler's used to be a separate company - got bought, sold, bought, sold, now they are separate again. Full circle. LOL.

ok... TU can't trace where the address came from which irritates me...

The fraud alerts drop after 7 years... did you know that? They had put a consumer statement but not an actual fraud alert on my file again... so we did that again.

you can ask them to put no date on it so it's permanent.

Did you look to see if any hard inquiry were pulled for new credit. I'm going to think that a ID scamster would not waste time in filling out apps for credit.

A friend of mine was a victim of this crap. She figures it started with a in-store app at the local Home Depot. Did not know what hit her until the credit rejection notices started to appear.

    Best regards,

no apps showing yet. There was another fcnb inquiry but they said their system did it.

I put the fraud warning on so if someone gives out credit without verifying then I won't feel sorry for them. Plus I added passwords on all my accounts so they couldn't be changed/ mailed new cards to a different address.

I'll watch them every month for a while...

FCNB accounts were the beginning of my problem.
