I am not sure what to do with this one
The creditor and lender are local to me. This was for an unpaid bill due to dissatisfaction with services provided for a home water system.

The merchant did some work, got my signature
for work performed and a credit card number.
Months later they called saying the card did not go through. At that point I was not happy with the services they did nothing to rectify and I refused to pay.
When I complained to BBB they sent a copy of the invoice which lists work done and has my signature.
If the CA sends this to me, would it be validation.

I would prefer not to pay this.
Should I wait until SOL runs out in 4 years (California: or is it 2 years: not sure if this is an OPEN account; it was a one time payment). There was no indication so far that the CA or merchant would sue, but I was considering small claims against them.

If I do file small claims could they countersue even after 4 years.

At some point, years ago I've written to one of the bureaus and probably said it was not mine. They confirmed it as mine.

I've also written years ago and asked CA to cease activity. They have not contacted me in years.
