to the court, how can I keep it from affecting my fico score? It shows up on my credit reports. Thanks
You could try having the judgement vacated, someone else might be able to give you the details on that process or if you live at a different address than when the judgement was filed you can call in to the CRA & delete the address as not mine and then dispute the judgement as not mine afterwards!!! Hope that helps!!! DiSpy
I had a judgement for $800 on my credit report. I was stupid and ignored the summons and then had a default judgement placed. Luckily I have a friend who is an attorney, he was able to vacate the judgement. He convinced the other attorney that if I paid the amount in full, the other attorney would not contest/show-up for the vacating motion. The day of the motion I had the paperwork from the court which I immediately faxed to the CRA's. Three days later the judgement fell off my credit report. Yes I was lucky.
