If the original creditor is payed?

    Whatâ??s the Law? If a collection agency is reporting on your credit, but you contact the original creditor and they are willing to except payment. Payment made directly to them, payable directly to the original creditors name, nothing to do with the collection agency. Can the collection agency continue to report? The original creditor is saying they have nothing to do with the collection agency and they canâ??t pull it back. I would have to dispute it with the credit agency's.

    FYI, The original creditor is not listed on my credit report.

    Yes- the CA can continue to report. Don't pay the OC unless you're able to verify that they've pulled your account back from collections in return for payment. If the debt's been sold, not transferred, than you'll have to deal directly with the CA no matter what.
