If you have a payment due of 50 $ and return an item for 75 $ do you still owe a 50$ payment?

It depends on the credit card...

Some credit cards may try to get you for a late fee if you don't pay the minimum amount due...even if they owe you $25.00 (if the payment is due before the credit shows up on the account)...

I would think you still owe the $50 min./payment, just as long as you're running a balance on the card. C.C. companies usually just see the credit (of $75) as just that, a credit towards the balance, not a monthly payment. Otherwise we'd be able to get out of having to come up with min. payments due each month, i.e. consumer has bal of $1000 on a $2000cr line, min due is $30 (based on min due of 3%), so consumer goes out, charges $30 or $50 or whatever, then returns the item a few days later, consumer now has that dollar amount ( whatever it may be, as long as it's over min. due ) credited to their card, and the consumer wouldn't have come up with a payment for that month.

This is true but the bank isn't hurting on the deal B/c they are getting Inst. on a level balance instead of a declining one!
