Ignoring some things in letter

Got my hubby's updated Equifax report today. The dispute was made 11/29/01.

We'd indicated the address was wrong, asked them to remove 2 accounts that weren't ours and 2 other items needed verification.

We get the report back today and they ignored half the stuff in the letter! She said she had no record of the items that I said nothing was done with.

I call and another dispute was iniatiated, but now that I think of it, didn't they have their 30 days already? I mean, the stuff was in the same letter, the fact is they just apparently ignored some of it.

Suggestions on what I can do - if anything??

    Ozzy.

I thought I was the only one having this problem. Mine were not major just simple things like address changes and updating credit lines and balances, but they disregarded half of my disputes.

It is my understanding that when you dispute is disregarded, they are supposed to inform you in writing that your dispute is "frivolous". Do you have a copy of your original dispute showing the items investigated and items ignored? I would think you could demand deletion as 1) they were notified 2) 30 days has passed and 3) creditor has not responded. It is their fault if they didn't begin an investigation.

Dani - have you done anything about them seemingly picking and choosing which items they're going to look into for you?

I'm drafting a letter right now, and I'm gonna enclose a copy of the first letter I sent them too.

I still have a copy of my letter that I mailed to them and a copy of my credit report that they sent to me regarding the investigated items. I wasn't really disputing anything I just wanted them to update the balances and credit lines on my accounts. I only sent in four disputes (as not to overwhelm them) along with proof of the new credit lines and $0 balances that I wanted them to report. They only verified my change of address and one of the three credit lines. Completely disregarded the other 2. I don't want them to delete anything just to correct what's wrong. I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what's up.

Yup... exactly. Letter going out today, basically stating what you said. There was NO mention of the 3 items they ignored in a letter or the updated report - they weren't frivilious - one of the accounts wasn't even ours and they ignored it.

I had originally disputed in a letter, before I knew I could dispute online, so I'm enclosing a copy of that letter with my new letter, indicating they already had their 30 days and they need to delete (especially since this stuff needed deleted anyway!). We shouldn't have to wait another 30 days because they goofed.
