Im a newbie credit score 649 need help! I am a newbie checked my credit score it is 649. I have 5 collections all for medical charges that insurance didn't pay from surgery in 2006. The total due is around 5,300 dollars. My credit report (Experian) all 5 say they are all CO? The legend says charge off or collections. The collectors no longer send bills or communicate. My credit report shows 3 have last reported May 2006 for $223, Oct 2006 for $2,763, Dec 2007 for $575 and the other 2 are still reporting as of Oct 2008. How do you gurus recommend I proceed? I would like to improve my credit score. Thank you.
First, dispute the derogatory lines through the credit reporting agencies. See how many are removed. Then, see if they're any violations and contact the furnishers AND re-dispute a second time.
