Good day to all, i'm going through so much with all these bills and a $10 job at the age of 54 trying to make it on my own in these hard times. I was contemplating bankruptcy and after this latest threat i'm really scared. I received a warrant to appear in court about a loan from 2005. If I can remember correctly the initial loan was for $500. My credit report says the initial creditor was AFS ASSIGNEE of Washington Mutual well whomever the company was they went out of business shortly after the loan and i've moved several times. So i get warrant and they say i'm being sued for $2800 dollars plus all these other charges which ad up to about $3400 (lawyer fees and some other fee). I was told I need to write a letter to the courts by tomorrow. What do I say I admit i borrowed about $500 but i don't owe them thousands of dollars or do I. I'm scared i've never been sued or in any legal trouble. Someone said i can file bankruptcy before this goes to court but I also HAVE to answer the courts to stall time. Can someone please help me on what to say in this letter. A lawyer said chapter 7 would be cheeper than 13 but she can't guarantee i can keep my car which i've only had for 3 months she said if i had it for 6 months. I'm so confused, the people suing me is ARROW FINCL, i guess they own Afs of washington mutual i don't know, but i've waited late this letter is due tomorrow. thanks
