I've had a Getsmart card for going on 2 years-- never had a CL increase, although they "generously" decreased my rate from 22.99 to 16.99. I called last night to request a CL increase, she stated that Providian does not take requests for CL increases, but would review my account periodically and when I "qualify" they will give me an increase and notify me by mail. What a crock... I closed the account and I'm done with these fools for good.
kit: at least they didn't try to SELL you the credit line increases, that got them into hot water already... oops, thats right, your not paying for the increase, your paying $199 for a $30 upgrade, and the $200 credit line increase was a gift...
I got all the same lines of crap you did. Had a $1k limit with no increase in 2 years. They would do NOTHING. Good riddance! I haven't missed them one bit.
When I requested the account closed, the rep fed me some BS "response" which she was obviously reading straight off the computer screen... she listed all the "benefits" of having their card... "benefits such as insurance when you rent a car"... I almost laughed. Essentially they gave me absolutely no reason to keep the card. Why in the world does anyone do business with this company??
I have their paypal visa and I don't like it one bit! I am in the process (next week) of sending full payment to them and then mailing out a "CLOSE OUT" letter....I have had a cl of 1k for 2 yrs now, no cl increases and my other cards are much better then providian could ever give me. But they served their purpose (helping me get my score up)...now I say good riddance too!!
