Hi all, It's been a while since I last posted. My bankruptcy just came off my credit report. I filed in May of 1992, and 10 years later, it finally no longer appears on my credit report. Just checked my equifax and I am clean as a whistle. I was a frequent poster here about a year and a half ago. I acquired about 5 -6 subprime cards while still in bankruptcy, but could never get a "prime" card - I did get an Amex gold, but as an authorized user on my wifes account! So for the last year I have just nursed my subprime cards waiting until I was free of th BK. This board is great, I learned a lot of useful information. I had good experiences with Providian, they were my first post BK card. They gave me regular increase and helped me build a nice credit history (I also bought their stock after it crashed for $2, then sold it when it went to $8!). Also had good experiences with Cap 1, but as I'm sure you know, they are very stingy with CL increases and don't report limits. I would also recommend FNANB, they report regularly and accurately! Thanks to everyone who gave me sound advice over the last couple of years - Mom, Jim...sorry I can't remember everyone! It all really made a difference! Guess now I'll work on getting 1 or 2 prime cards and consolidate all my subprime cards. Sincerely, Chet
This board looks like it's doing awesome...these creditnet guys must have bought a huge server! I will try to check back regularly. I will be happy to answer any questions anyone might have about BK related issues! After 10 years, I got very familiar with the topic.
Congrats Chet!! Go get yourself a really pretty prime card. BTW, have you looked to see your score now?
Congratulations !!!! Check your scores and choose carefully which cards you would like to have. I would check out the Arkansas based cards ( low apr. )and Generations bank ( doesn't report ). I don't have these but I have a way to go before my BK is completely erased. It is interesting that after all this time, you and I are still here on the board. As you said, stick around to help the newcomers. Best regards, Jim
