I have several late pays on one of my student loans (two loans total from same place... KHESLC if it makes a difference) from about 4 years ago. Would getting rid of those help my credit score? If so, what should be my first plan of action? My original thought was to write the creditor asking for removal of derogs in exchange for immediate payment in full of remaining balance. Would I be wasting my time going that route? It is probably important to also note that the payments were indeed late and the account was in forebearance several times to prevent further damage to my credit. Thanks for your input...
i have the same issues. I was told to try the 'nutcase letter'. Do a search on nutcase. I just typed mine up last night.
Not sure that the Nutcase is appropriate here. The Nutcase is/was intended for FULLY PAID OC accounts. My suggestion would be to try the "goodwill adjustment". see below: http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&pgnum=1&postid=191627#post191627
Javan - thanks for the link! That was along the lines of what I was considering and the posts give me the courage, for lack of a better word, to go ahead and try it.
