Amex and others seem to love reporting my cards at their highest balances, then taking months to report 0 balances. Am I going to get in trouble with the CRA by repeatedly disputing balances that are out of date. thanks.

You wouldn't get in trouble--after all, the information truly is incorrect--but sometimes the CRAs will just delete the whole tradeline rather than update the balance info. Just something to watch out for.

Citi is another issuer that takes their sweet time reporting correct balances.

I'm in a similar boat - I disputed a 2 year old auto loan as never late (it showed 2 30-days). The creditor did not respond and now Equifax is deleting it altogether! I asked them why and they said their policy is to delete when creditor doesn't respond.

I have learned that if you request that only the balances be corrected and write in 42 font "DO NOTE DELETE THIS ACCOUNT. IF YOU DO I WILL SUE YOUR A$$" works wonders. :)
