Does anybody know if the credit card companies or personal loans go back and verify income after they give you a card or a loan if you default on payment. If they do, what can they or do they do? Can they do that after the fact?

I don't know any company that will actually verify income after the fact. The only time they'll do this is when they suspect a fraud. In that case, all bets are off.

In the eighties, they did call my mom as the nearest relative. I have not seen that question on a credit app in the last twenty years.

My situation is this I was a compulsive gambler for many years. I wrote bad checks at casino then I lost my job. Got my first loan from CU to pay off bad checks but went to casino instead. Went to 2nd C U then a third I did pay off bad checks. I went to us bank and thatâ??s where my trouble began the payment is 160 a month I get $824 a month so far Iâ??m ok but Iâ??m looking ahead. So scared of what will happen when I canâ??t keep paying I am totally disabled I have been to prison and canâ??t go back Iâ??ll kill myself first

    Honey,

Seriously, You're worrying yourself sick. STOP IT.

Make sure you get yourself stabalized first. If you can, see where the free legal service plans are in your commuinty. They make provision to help for free if one can't afford it.

Gambling is a desease. If you had/have it but are trying to make things right, they're not gonna do anything to you. Your checks are paid off.

If you need to just make $5 a month pmts. to the CU's until you can get this figured out. Since you're on SSI it's exempt from any lawsuit.

Calm down Honey, let's not worry about stuff that isn't gonna happen anyway.

    • Sometimes God quiets the storm.
But sometimes He quiets the spirit
and lets the storm rage on.

    You're not alone.

If you want, I'll be happy to talk to you on the phone. Just send me an email so I can respond.

    :)

    HoneyGirl,
Just take it easy, if possible. Legal counsel is the best advice in your case.

I know how anxiety can be, it just feeds on itself. It sounds like you haven't defaulted yet, so I have a feeling that payment arrangements can be made.

    Please hang in there!
