Hello all, can anyone provide some advice on this. I just found out that my tax refund has an offset aginst it. My wife is filing an "Injured Spouse" form. My questons are what is the most beneficial way to fill it out. The mortgage is in only her name so the interest could go under just her for a deduction. Will this help protect more of the refund? ANy other suggestions are definitely wecomed. Thanks in advance.
If they took any of her rightfully earned refund to pay off your debt, then she will get that back. The IRS should ONLY take what what was your percentage of the refund to pay your debt. Don't hold your breath while waiting for that money, it takes the IRS months to process these.
