I have been reading threads on inquiries and I have a question. On my EXP report I have 12 inquiries, 10 are older than 6 months, one that states "collection purpose" and was requested on 9/03. My EQFX report has 8 inquiries, 7 are older than 6 months. I'm still waiting on a current TU report. Should I try to have some of my inquiries removed? I've read that its good to have some and that the one's older than 6 months don't count. Please advise, I'm all confused!!
Experian and TU won't remove inquiries. EQ has been, but I heard the other day they may have stopped.
Because "inquiries" are NOT specifically mentioned in the laws regulating debt collection, it is a "gray" area. There really is not anything one can do to get them deleted. I "THINK" the "2 year" is a policy, and not required by law. The only "protection" a consumer has, is IMPERMISSIBLE access. The biggest of which is access AFTER an account is closed/charged off/paid off/discharged/etc BUT, it NEVER hurts to ask!
Just call the CRAs and ask that they remove the inquiries b/c you did not authorize them... it's worked well for me in the past. Also, if need be, write a letter to the creditor stating the same thing... this has also worked. MrX
