I thought insurance companies were not supposed to do hard inquiries or something like that. Not only did my company (Allstate) pull one, but they never had my permission to do so. Therefore I plan to dispute it since they did not have my permission. However, I thought there was some kind of special deal as it pertains to insurance companies and pulling credit reports. Anyone know? I plan to call Allstate tomorrow and see if they are willing to remove it. We shall see.
Insurance companies can pull a hard any time they want. When you apply for new insurance, when they decide whether to keep you or drop you at renewal time, etc. real nice, huh? I have no idea why they can't do a/r since you already have an account with them. Even more importantly, they are idoits if they truly think they can tell how you dive by looking at your credit.
They can pull a hard on me if I am a customer without getting my consent each and everytime they decide to pull? Is this right?
Depends on the laws in your state. Here in PA, they can only pull on new applicants, and not to re-rate an existing customer.
THAT IS WHAT I ALWAYS SAY~~HOW CAN THEY TELL HOW YOU DRIVE BY A CREDIT REPORT??? EXAMPLE~~BROTHER ROTTEN CREDIT (EX-WIFE OPENED A BUNCH OF "JOINT" ACCOUNTS AND NEVER PAID)--HE NEVER KNEW ABOUT THEM... NO TICKETS NO CLAIMS NO ACCIDENTS + ROTTEN CREDIT=ROTTEN RATES!!!
NO TICKETS NO CLAIMS NO ACCIDENTS + ROTTEN CREDIT=ROTTEN RATES!!! WHERE IS THE FRAUD IN THIS PICTURE??? OTHER THAN THE "ROTTEN RATES" FROM THE INSURANCE COMPANY... WE ALL NEED TO FILE FOR INSURANCE COMPANY FRAUD!!! (I DID...SORT OF)
Re: Re: Inquiries from Insurance Companies Yeah, George, those of us who are in the ins business will tell you the laws and what the companies really do. That doesn't mean we agree with it, it is just information for people to work with. If people keep complaining, the states will change their laws.
Re: Re: Re: Inquiries from Insurance Companies Originally posted by delgato Credit scores are a good predictor of fraud not driving ability. I INTERPRET THIS TO MEAN--CAUSE AND EFFECT...POOR CREDIT CAUSES FRAUD...EVEN IF THE PERSON NEVER HAS COMMITTED FRAUD IN 30+ YEARS...OR 50+ YEARS...THEY WILL DO SO IN THE FUTURE...BECAUSE THE INSURANCE COMPANY SAYS THEY WILL!!! NO CLAIMS NO ACCIDENTS NO TICKETS + POOR CREDIT=THEY WILL HAVE TICKETS, ACCIDENTS, AND CLAIMS??? WHEN??? THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON GETTING GOOD CREDIT FOR 2 YEARS...AND STILL HAVE NO ACCIDENTS, CLAIMS, OR TICKETS!!! AND THEY PROBABLY NEVER WILL HAVE ANY TICKETS, CLAIMS OR ACCIDENTS!!!
Re: Re: Re: Inquiries from Insurance Companies breeze I GOT INSURANCE "ADVERSE ACTION" BECAUSE OF USING CREDIT TO MY BENEFIT!!! NO "BADDIES" 25+ YEARS NO ACCIDENTS NO CLAIMS ONE TICKET 7+ MPH (1983) DO YOU SEE ANY "CAUSE AND EFFECT"
Re: Re: Re: Inquiries from Insurance Companies I GUESS THAT TICKET COULD HAVE BEEN WHEN IT HIT THE $300,000 MARK FOR CREDIT LIMITS?!?!?!?!?!
Re: Re: Re: Inquiries from Insurance Companies OK, well there went 10 replies that had nothing to do with the price of beans. Has anyone ever had Allstate do a hard? If so, were they willing to remove it?
Re: Re: Inquiries from Insurance Companies From what I have heard, Allstate takes a hard line about inquiries. But, it never hurts to ask.
Re: Re: Inquiries from Insurance Companies If you want a better auto insurance score, get a gas card. Sounds silly, but I read their scoring stuff, and a gas card give you + points for auto scoring. This statement is NOT directed to George or lbrown59.
