I pulled my CR from Evil Experian. I noticed that the hard inquiries stay there for 2 years. Why is that? What is counted on FICO scores - 6 month old inquiries, 12 months, or 24 months? Thanks!

"THEY" say that they only HURT for 6 months...BUT they stay for 2 years...NOT TOO MANY YEARS AGO...THEY ONLY STAYED FOR ONE YEAR!!!

This is something that truely needs to be changed. Years and years ago, inquires were a legimate sign that someone may be in some trouble. But today, with all of these 0% BT offers and 0% auto loans and many other loans at very low rates it just doesn't have the same meaning. With so much competitionamong lenders, consumers should be able to take advantage of it without an inquiry being regarded as derogatory.

You are ACTUALLY a better CONSUMER if you apply now and then to lower your rates and DUMP THE GARBAGE!!! You should NOT be PUNISHED for being a WISE CONSUMER!!!

I agree. They should not punish you for trying to get the best deal. It sucks! I'm tired of notations "too many inquiries" when I have less than 5 in 1 years! I want to apply for a mortgage to from different lenders, but I can't coz I'm trying to avoid TOO MANY *(*&( INQUIRIES.

Wise consumers are the very consumers that lenders hate. They shop rates and pay bills on time and quickly. They want UnWise consumers that pay late, rack up fees, and continually pay on CCs and loans with 20%+ APRs. They also want UnWise consumers that do not know their credit rights and are gullible to the games they play.
