I have inquiries on my Credit Reports from companies I've never heard of or dealt with. How is it they are allowed to look into my credit, but if I want my own credit report I have to bend over backwards. Is there anyway to stop unknown or unwanted companies from inquiring about my credit? Thanks

Are these hard inquiries? Or PRMs, ARs, etc.? No one should be pulling hard inquiries on you without a permissible purpose (you're applying for credit, eg.). Are the inquiries showing any designation before or after them?

Call 888.5OPTOUT. That will block MOST unauthorized inquiries for the 3 CRA's for 2 years. Charlie

Just a small correction. Opt out will only block PRM inquiries. These inquiries occur usually because the credit bureau sells your information to a particular credit card company. When you contact OPT OUT they will ask if you would like to opt out for two years or indefinitely.
