I just bought a car and, not surprisingly, after I applied for a loan through the dealer, several inquiries appeared on my credit report. Two of the banks pulled my report twice in the same day so I have duplicate inquiries. Why would a financial institution pull your report twice in the same day? I now have about 6 inquiries on my report.

    Thanks!

It is not uncommon for banks to do multiple pulls, sometimes different branches or departments pull it for their own review. But do not panic, per the scoring models, the 6 inquiries will only count as "1", you do not get penalized for "shopping for credit" or by multiple reviews by institutions.

This happened to me in Dec of 05. 8 hits in two days with EQ only!!! I disputed all but the creditor who gave me credit on March 29, 07 and 5 of them are gone now.

If it is EQ reporting these, you might want to give them a call and ask if they will " investigate " the inquiries.

Regarding inquiries, Equifax will remove any upon request unless they are tied to a tradeline. This is a rather new trend in which they appear to be following the other two credit reporting agencies. For Trans Union, sign up for True Credit and update your reports daily. Your inquiries will begin to be removed after anywhere between 30 to 45 pulls.

Experian will not remove them absent a lawsuit which standing by itself, would be dubious at best.
