I'm sure most of you have run across this, but I hadn't seen it before so I thought I'd share it here. Some interesting stuff that confirms what we have been thinking. http://www.creditrepair.com/freeinformation/whataremyrights.htm
I think (hope) this site has a typo: (2) Effective date. Paragraph (1) shall apply only to items of information added to the file of a consumer on or after the date that is 455 days after the date of enactment of the Consumer Credit Reporting Reform Act of 1996. (on September 30, 1997 the new FCRA was enacted, so this applies to any item added after December 29, 1998.) They link they refer to says: (2) Effective date Paragraph (1) shall apply only to items of information added to the file of a consumer on or after the date that is 455 days after September 30, 1996. Anyone else notice this, or do I need more coffee???
