What is going on with instant approvals. I have applied for a few different credit cards in the past 10 days (I wanted to a get a few more before the end of the year when I get a mortgage) and it takes them days before they even pull a report: Bank of America: applied 8/19, TU 8/22, approved on 8/23 (checked via their web site) Discover: applied 8/19, EQ 8/26, unknown status Chase: applied 8/19, TU 8/21, unknown status MBNA: applied 8/19, TU 8/22, unknown status By the way my scores are: TU: 733 (one paid chargeoff listed from '96) EQ: 743 (one paid chargeoff listed from '96) EX: 669 (one paid/one unpaid chargeoffs from '96) E-loan: 722 Mark
a lot of times you dont get instant approvals. even if it says.. in fact i believe i have only gotten 1 instant approval in my whole life. (from citibank) so im not sure.. ????? I would think if there was any derogs on a report that would cause a delay in getting approved.. Kev
Yea..I got an instant approval from Fleet a couple of weeks ago and checked all 3 reports 2 days later and no inquiries on ANY of them. I am assuming they pulled TU though b/c I have CW and CE and no inquiries from Fleet on either of those two.
Thank you for the reply. The fact is that none of these banks pulled a report when I applied. They pulled days after. I wonder if this is a new policy to not approve instantly. But if they didn't get a report at that time how did they know that my application required further processing. Is there something else they check? Just a few questions going through my mind... Well I WAS approved instantly even though they didn't check my report instantly. It was a preapproved offer though and I had some special code before doing the instant approval thing.
I called MBNA today to check the status of the application. The representative told me that they are still processing the application (it has been more than a week) and it normally takes 17 days! That is a long time. Thanks! Mark
