Insurance Problem

I have my auto insurance through Geico. About 9 months ago, we were having financial problems and lost our insurance. Within 2 month we were able to pay up again and reinstate. At the time we were told we had to pay $159.19 that was owed from our previous account along with the downpayment for the new policy. We paid and our insurance was reinstated.

About a month ago, I received a letter from Credit Collection Services demanding payment of $159.19 owned to Geico. Not knowing what to do at the time, we disputed this collection over the phone to Geico. The rep told us Geico had not put the money we paid towards the old policy and that we still owed the money.

So where do I go from here? We currently have a policy with Geigo, have no past due showing on any statements etc but I'm still receiving collection letters from the CA.

Any advice on how to handle this?

NOT AN INSURANCE EXPERT...but I "THINK" you can't be charged for the PAST DUE AMOUNT (what the CA is trying to EXTORT from you)...you just had NO insurance for the 2 month time period)

    This won't fly :
you paid what they said you owed.
What the insure did with the money is their problem not yours.

Send a validation letter to the CA.
