I got my official, we don't want you letter from AmEx today. They came right out and said they used a credit score and I did not score high enough at this time. It was nice enough and wasn't discouraging at all. That was the closest to honest any cc company has ever been in a rejection letter as far as I have seen. They kindof said fix these issues and your score might be high enough the next time around. Interesting.
Sounds like an okay way to say "no". I got declined by HB, and the letter said it was because of my Equifax report, then it said "derog pub record" "collection" etc etc. I know they didn't get that from EFX - in fact, they had to have checked TU, but they didn't say so. I am in the process of making them say it. I was under the impression they check EFX, or I wouldn't have applied. The TU report has errors on it. They also put 2 hard inquiries on my EFX report, and I am disputing that. breeze
