I received a CA notice from a company that is apparently not licensed in my state, as I pulled up the licensing list (Thanks to Why Chat's Site) What would you do next? Tell them to go pee up a flag pole for what they are doing OR report them? And if I report them, who do I report this to?
Holy crap!! and here is another listed one on Credit report ythat is not licensed to collect in my state!!!!
The fuuny thing is that one is actively collecting...just received a letter yesterday and the other is not, but they BOTH are for the same account AND lying dorman on my EXP report. This is an old debt that will fall off next year. funny exp, it keeps coming back verified for the dormant one......
EX will not attempt to reverify once they have verified it once, you need to come up with a different way to attack it to get them to actually re-investigate it. Now, you may just have that. Find out which state agency is over the registration, get something in writing from them certifying something to the effect that DSDA Collections is not registered in XX, and can not collect within the state of XX. Then you send a copy of that to EX, saying that IF DSDA is not legally able to collect in the state of XX, by reporting to EX, they and you are in violation of Federal Law for reporting knowingly inaccurate information, you demand that they comply with the law and delete the account. More than likely, they will only request an investigation (if they don't Previously Investigated that request), but if they've been contacted by your state, and the noose has started to be tied by your state, then they may just be smart and not verify it.
You are welcome, HOWEVER, the fact that they are not licensed in your State may NOT be a bar to them collecting by mail or phone, few States are "closed" to ANY collection activities from a CA not licensed within that State. If you go to the State SOL link on my website, it also gives the collection agency regulations pertaining to out of State CA's.
