I have a Mobil tradeline on my credit report that's showing as being settled. It includes the text "Account legally paid in full for less than full balance". I've spoken with Mobil about this account and they claim that they no longer have any records of it and suggested disputing with the credit bureaus to get rid of it. I spoke on the phone to a rep from Experian today and asked to dispute that account and he told me that it was a positive account since the settlement shows that it was paid and since it had no negative history associated with it. I told him to leave it for now, but it seems to me that any creditor looking at my report that saw a settlement would think it was a bad thing. Am I misunderstanding something here or should I try to get rid of it? Thanks, Brett
