I just got a letter from discover card and they sent it overnight with confirmation..That must have cost them 20.00 just for that..They said I have 10 days to pay my balance of 1300.00 or they will take legal action..I am thinking they will just send me to a creditor..What should I do..I told them I would pay the whole balance if they took the 120 days late off my credit report, and they said they don't do that..Or should I just wait it out,,Or just not pay it off..I'm in a bind here with just a few days left..Thankx

Were you 120 days late? Did you get validation of the late?

I was 120 days late once and 90 days late another time..I did not try to validate it b/c the letter says I have until the 5th of Sept..to pay it..or they are taking legal action(Probably collections)..I told them I had no problem paying the full balance as long as they took the late payments off my credit report..I only charged 800.00 and the other 550.00 is late and overlimit fees..so they are making a killing if I paid..

    daone,

The trend now is for orginal creditors to file suit instead of turning it over to a ca. Citi and Discover will sue you. I doubt it's a bluff.

I agree with keepmine. Many OCs are foregoing the collection agencies and are going straight to court. I am a little surprised that they went after such a small amount, but if the letter is CRRR I think they are serious.

Discover was the one that pushed me to file BK, I owed them 13K and they hired a local attorney that sued me, they came to my door with a summons.
Not trying to scare you, justtelling facts like they happened to me.

    Sorry Daone,

You are going to have to pay them or work out some kind of plan. They sound dead serious. I guess OCs are finally figuring out that CAs aren't the best route.

You can't "blackmail" discover with removal of the 120 day late. You admit to the 120 and you know it's there. They also know it's there. If you have the cash, I recommend you pay.
