Does being an Authorized User help the FICO score and does it depend on the CRA? I heard Equifax's FICO considers AU's.

Yes they do :)) To my knowledge doesn't matter which CRA it is.

Helps if the account is positive. Hurts if the account is negative. Will have NO effect unless the account is reported to the CRA. Does not depend on the CRA.

My only entry in my credit report is my wife;s Sears card on which I am an authorized user. That brought my score from non-existent to somewhere in the low to mid 600's.

What I would like to know is whether the banks are required to report also authorized users.
I tried to get Chase to report me as an authorized user and they say they do that "periodically" without saying what that period is. The CSR tells me they can't make sure I will be reported and that I have to write to their credit research department to request to be reported.

Isn't that supposed to be handled by Customer service?
Does anyone know how I should talk to the CSR to get them to make sure that I will be reported as an authorized user?

    Thanks, Ioan

If you are talking about a Chase CC, then I would assume that it would be reported the same as Sears. It is nothing that they are required to do. But most like to do it if your name is also on the cc account. I was just added to a citibank card with my wife and they took my social, so that they could report.

    Thanks for your answer.
I asked the CSR if he wanted my SSN so that I can be reported but he said that he could guarantee I would be reported even if I did provide the SSN.
