I have been reading some posts and I am sensing that Household is bad news? Anyone have any info on that. I have a car financed through them and I just got a "pre-approved" (haha) card application from them. Are they someone to stay away from. Their reports on rip-off.com are terrible! Is Orchard Bank the same deal?
I have a Gold card with them and they've treated me well so far. I think they have two divisions: subprime and prime. Most people are probably complaining about the subprime division (low limit, high annual fee cards).
I have read a lot of posts about peole with auto loans with them, saying they have problems posting payments on time and get multiple calls if their payment is one day late as a result. I haven't heard too many negative comments about their credit card divisions...I myself have an orchard card and have never had any problems. When I send a payment, it posts within three business days (including delivery time). Customer service is solid and yes the fees are steep, but what do you expect from a subprime issuer? (I'm used to it by now).
household has two faces: the orchard/household subprime and the gm/househould/beneficial not-so-subprime The not-so-subprime ones don't come with crappy yearly fee and also an intro APR rate.
Have you received any limit increases with your Orchard card? I applied for one on Monday and apparently was accepted. I called in and they said my limit will be $300. I'm wondering how long it will be before I can get that raised...
They review for limit increases every 3 months....just make sure that you use the card every month and don't go overlimit or make late payments and you should get the increases. They are pretty good with increases at Orchard.
I have an account with HHB (they took over my old bank) and I can't really say anything bad (or overwhelmingly good either) about them. I make payments to them via BofA online banking. Payments are sent electronically and are posted the day after BofA takes the money from my account. They have online payment from HHB's web site and the site also shows a variety of account info, past statements etc. I can't say anything about customer service because I haven't talked to anyone from HHB in about a year. The two times I needed help with something was to change my address and get another paper statement and both of those were done online with no problems.
