Is it Me? Experian/Wells Fargo vent

Am I stupid? I just don't see how an account can be paid off/never late, zero balance AND currently past due 1574.00. Experian says it makes perfect sense to them and that the information was verified with an investigation. Well, how come they are the only ones that report it this way and they can verify it? I just called and asked them and they said it was perfectly normal to show a paid off account with a past due balance. Maybe for an idiotic credit bureau. I am so freaked out because I am trying to get hired and they are going to pull my credit.

Hopefully my employer can see MY logic and not Experians.

Is it possible the account was 1574 at the last reporting then you paid it off? If they "verified" it, did you ask them to provide information on the verification? This sounds strange. Hopefully, your prospective employer won't pull that CRA.

I unfortunately can't give any help with the CRA, but I do work for a company that pulls credit when hiring people. If that is the only thing you have on there, I wouldn't worry. When I was hired, my credit was bad - they pull your credit more to make sure that you don't have any evictions, abnormally large debt amount etc...
Personally I think it should be against the law for companies to even do this. My personal business shouldn't be allowed to be seen by them. Especially when companies have policies on "not using work time for personal issues" yet it's okay for them to know all about yours? Double standard. it sucks. But I wouldn't worry too much - if your a strong candidate, that will out weigh your credit.

Thanks for the reply. I have a 4 year old bk and all the nasties that went with that but since then my credit has been fine other than high utilization which is why I need a job. My boss said they are mostly looking for charge offs and collections. He said they don't want to see stuff unpaid. I gathered that they don't want to deal with judgements and garnishments.
