OC-chargeoff to come off next year. not sure of the exact date, because the cra's all say something different. should i send a validate letter? oc's dont have to validate do they? its my ex's...and i have no intention on paying it. its the only neg i have on my report (did have about 5 more but they all got deleted off). just not sure how to deal with an OC. any advice?? THANKS!

Was it a joint account or were you an authorized user? If it was the latter, I'd dispute it as not mine.

Here's another thought, and Butch mentioned it earlier. All this stuff that falls off after 7 yrs can still be reported on a report if you are buying a house over $150K, applying for life over $150K, or seeking employment $75K.

So aren't you better off trying to dispute it off?

lol! in the town in live in, with the wages we make around here...there ARE no houses worth 150K...and definitely no jobs at 75k (dont i wish!!) so..you think i should leave well enough alone? i talked to two friends that both work at different banks. explained my credit scores (not my fico, mind you) are 730-755..and i had one chargeoff in 96..they said dont worry about it. but i just want to make sure. dont want them coming after me for it, but if there is a way i can get it off sooner, or just off completely, i would like to try. what if each CRA says a different date when it was charged off? thanks for your help!

Check the SOL...if it's past the SOL they can't collect.
