This is the situation: In Nov 1998, I disputed a few accounts. They deleted 6 of 7accounts that I disputed. They reinserted one account (MC) in Nov 1999 and the other (Visa) I am not sure. I got married in Dec 1999. Then of course my married name began to appear on my reports. But when I applied for a car loan with my CU, they revealed that I had two files with EQ. One in my maiden name, another in my married name. The acount that was reinserted in Nov 1999 (MC) was left on the report that had my maiden name on it; the other account (Visa) reappeared sometime after I got married, and also shows only on the 'maiden' report. After that point, whenever I ordered a copy of my credit report, they always gave me the 'married' version. But when the CU pulled it, they got both versions and declined my car loan (wasnt the only reason, though). The point is that they never notified me that they were reinserting anything. I have lived at the same address for nearly 6 years, so I know that they have not mailed anything. They also sent me a copy of the 'maiden' report. Is this enough to take them to court?
Can you get a copy of the other report? Do you have a copy of the previous report when they deleted the info. I guess is what I am asking do you have proof that is was deleted and added back without the 5 day notification.
Is this enough to take them to court? If you just want to go to court for $$ then yes If you want your report straightened out then: Have you tried sending a letter requesting the corrections? I would think if you have tried all resources and they will not correct it then yes take them to court!
No, I haven't. But I did speak with a rep when this was brought to my attention and they said that I would have to dispute it again. They will be receiving a letter from me soon. Thanks.
What do you think? I would not mind settling out of court if I can get damages and deletion. If I had been approved for the CU loan it would have saved me over 5k compared to my current financing. Any thoughts?
Re: What do you think? ng, I sent them a letter demanding re-deletion of the two accounts. I checked my report online and they have completed their investigation or whatever it was (was only dated for 3 days turnaround) and the accounts are still there. I havent received their mailed reply yet. I am anxious to see what line of crap they are going to try to feed me. Hopefully I will get it today. Thanks for reading my jibber-jabber. ng, thanks for replying!
