I had a judgment about seven years ago which was never satisfied in NY. The company that came after me for the money never got paid a dime.

After seven years can this company still come after my money?
I'm mainly concerned about money that I have in the bank.

Does a collection company have to send a notice to you before they attempt to garnish your money?

How can I be sure debts that I owe won't come after my bank account? Debt consolidation?

judgments in NY State are good for 20 years. If you are no longer in NY State and they find you they can apply to your state's courts to "domesticate" the judgment in your new state. Then they can go after your assets

it depends on the state law, usually the debtor is given a chance to file an objection to the judgment, but this may occur after they have already begun to garnish

Debt consolidation will not stop a judgment creditor from attaching to your assets.

Easy way is to not have a bank account, or put the money in someone else's account that you can trust!

There is a thread here about becoming "judgment-proof", that explains things in more detail
