Is Quest Labs Lying?

Was told by Quest Diagnostics (OC) that they do not report oustanding debt to CRAs. Sounds strange, so I was wondering if anyone can confirm this.

I had offered the OC a settlement in exchange for no negative comments on my CR. However, the rep. stated Quest doesn't report deliquent accounts to CRAs. I then asked how they collect accounts and was told they rely on CAs - They assigned my account to a CA, but did not sell it.

(Did a search on Quest and came up empty - well over 200 hits, but none related to Quest Labs)

    Geez,

I wonder if the CA might fubar your credit? Have you thought of that?

    They didn't lie...

They said that *THEY* do not report, if a CA who is assigned reports, they did not say that they do not allow their CA to report.

They just said that *THEY* personally do not report.

Now, I would get them to put into writing that no one will place an entry for them, in any way, shape, or form.

I will write to the OC and try to get in writing that they and CA will not put a tradeline on my CR. When I asked OC for a receipt for my 20% payment (paid before I found creditnet), OC said CA will send the receipt as CA has all the records now.

Before, I learned all this, I was going to send the CA a validation letter (per credinet expert suggestion). Should I still do that or send the CA a letter confirming they won't put a tradeline on my CR in exchange for partial payment?

Thanks for all the help. Got this resolved with Quest and they were very professional. I ended up only paying the Medicare charge and got a letter (on Quest letterhead) stating they and their AMCA collection agency really don't report outstanding debt to CRAs. But that only applied to the billing office I was working with. Turns out companies they recently acquired have different procedures
