    SPECIFIC INFORMATION REGARDING CONSUMERS SENDING A COLL. AGENCY OUR SSN's (OR ANY OTHER INFO) AFTER WE GET THE "WE NEED YOUR SSN TO LOCATE YOUR ACCOUNT" BS LETTER?     I'M ASSISTING A FRAT BROTHER AND I'VE NEVER RAN INTO THIS PROBLEM WITH MY ON ENDEAVERS. HE OBVIOUSLY HAS BEAT THEM, BUT WANTS TO SEND THEM A LETTER LETTING THEM KNOW HE DOES'NT HAVE TO SEND HIS SSN (OR ANYTHING ELSE) BUT WANTS TO BE POSITIVE ABOUT IT. ANY REFERENCES ARE APPRECIATED.

    Just call the ftc at 1-877-ftc-help. They will tell you that you have no obligation to send them anything. If they are reporting it, they should have all the info necessary.

    Including account number? I usually send validation requests without it.
