I called EQ to delete an old address last week. Yetserday an updated report came to me showing the address was deleted, but also 6 derogs were gone and 2 positive accounts were gone. All inquires were gone except those within the last 6 months. This is a plus for me overall. I don't want to wake up EQ if they made a mistake.
My TU report has 97% of my trades missing too. though most were bad I dont care much,. the only good trades were closed anyway. I asked TU and they claim no split file. can't help but suspect though that the info just doesnt evaporate years before its supposed to. that would be too good. Checked my report from WK (not that that is overly credible) and still the same report with just a couple ng collections and nothing much else. Also my equifax isnt showing many former addresses. just 2 addresses total. Experian on the other hand loves to collect my addresses. I just disputed about 7 old addresses yesterday. Ive heard a lot that split files are bad. which if one has any positive trades I would have to totally agree. But are the necessarily bad if a person loses bad trades? I have read much about what a consumer pulls as a report and what a lender will pull. some say when they have a split report that the lender may pull the same near empty file or they may get a file that has nothing lost on it. this is all quite frustrating because it's so sporadic and totally inconsistent. I would enjoy thouroughly the thought if in fact TU when they said I didnt have a split report they were in fact correct and the info went bye-bye, but I havent heard from anyone who has definitively stated that info dissapeared from their file and stayed gone to ultimately bennefit them. If anyone has had this happen, speak up. But I am presuming the data is floating around somewhere. question being is it lost well enough to be lost for good. this seems to be seldom the case. but I have limited experience in the whole credit report monitoring biz, I am just starting out. when i first pulled my TU, i thought I was given a present for the first 5 minutes. then banished the thought as that couldnt possibly happen to me. Im not that lucky.
I will tell you from first hand experience why a split file is bad. Back in late Dec I developed a 'split' file with TU. Basically what it did was my second file that produced had ONLY previously DELETED tradelines on it, in other words, I hd my one PERFECT file, then the other BAD file, one score of 694 the other of 567, the 694 was the correct report but when you apply for credit and the creditor pulls, it's like Russian Roulette, you never know which one they are going to get. A split file may be ok for someone with ALL bad credit but if you begin to clean up you're credit and then you have this other file out there, well, you see where I am going, imagine applying for a mortgage, you think you have a perfect report but then the broker pulls up this report with nothing but BAD stuff that you thought had just disappeared. That is like a kick in the face.
Excellent point and a variable that makes even the calm waters of what seems to be bad tradelines vanished come back to haunt you. I wouldnt mind a little russian roulette if I was even able to clean up the 2nd report. it has 2 collections. since they are medical collections from a hospital 2000 miles away from me this may be a fairly easy thing to delete. but as you said once positive trades go on and the CRA computer starts messing wth THOSE, then the fireworks start! Still if I could start establishing a couple CD secured loans and knock those collections off I would in theory have at least one seemingly good report to play russian roulette with. All I need is one auto lender to see it and Id be happy. Im not really interested in amassing cut throat credit cards. done that before and its no fun. I DO need a car loan though without having to pay 5 figures down to get it or pay 22% int. i can dream~
After I finished my credit repair journey I was in worse shape than before I began, I cleaned up my credit a little too well. After all was said and done, I left myself with a brand new mortgage and a tradeline from 94' that I paid off in like 3 months so technically I had NO credit, and NOONE would give me any, I was turned down for car loan after car loan, I was turned down for cc after cc, heck, even the subprime's turned me down, and that was with scores close to 700. What FINALLY worked for me was adding some of my husbands credit to mine, I became an authorized user on some cc's gave me a a couple of years history, I consolidated some his financing company loans, which I know are not good to have but when you have nothing, they are good. Those gave me a longer history and a larger history. I took out a loan against my free and clear truck to get some auto loan history (that is why Ford Motor Credit and the banks kept turning me down for an auto loan, no previous auto loan) Anywhoo, my point being, even with perfect credit, you may not be able to go and borrow whatever you need, you have to start out small and get some credit built. I was finally able to go get my new truck 2 weeks ago. I opened up an account at a credit union and I guess my husbands credit really made a difference because they approved me on the spot for 100% financing. The lady looked over my credit report (I was actually applying for overdraft protection and we started talkng about me wanting a new truck) anywhoo, when she pulled my report she said, "go ahead and go get what you want, I will finance you for 100% of the tradein value" And that was it, bought a truck a week later took about 10 minutes and she cut me the check. So don't get frustrated at first bc it WILL happen, just have to be patient.
Patience and persistence is the key. I was getting no where with EXP for a few months. Now I'm getting good results and got a deletion I didn't even ask for last week. I'm just wondering what happened to my EQ derogs that disappeared and if my file got split.
Re: Re: Is this a split file? Sorry Bigmon, did not mean to hijack you're thread, it sounds to me like it may very well be a split file. Have you been pulling CW everyday?
Re: Re: Is this a split file? Given the concern on this board about deleting hard inquiries on one's credit report and the possible side effect of having that effort result in a split file, perhaps we should discuss ways to remove soft inquiries from our credit files. Has anyone had any success removing soft inquiries from their credit file? Buckets
Re: Re: Is this a split file? I cancelled my CW after the 30 day trial. I haven't pulled a report since CHOD. Not sure what would cause it to split if it is split. I'll find out when I call EQ.
Re: Re: Re: Is this a split file? hmmmm, that's weird. You may not have a split file then, but it is just hard to believe Efx would just be so nice as to just remove negs. There something behind this.
Re: Re: Re: Is this a split file? Something seems weird. Some of the inquires on my report are different than on previous reports too. My mother applied for a HELOC and used a new address she moved to and none of her derogs on EQ followed her. None of her good trade lines follwed either. It seems like they just created a new file. Maybe there is a technical problem with EQ.
