I wrote to TU a few weeks ago requesting that they investigate (and delete!) some unauthorized inquiries that were on my report. I heard back from them VERY quickly (TOO quickly, I think) saying that they couldn't delete my inquiries and that I should write each individual creditor to have that done. Is this right? I mean, if that's the case, why do we even have credit reports? If I have to do all the work, that what is TU there for? But I have a second question too. Like I said, all I asked them to do is investigate inquiries on my report. Not only did they do nothing with those, they updated my Capital One charge-off. It's also past due and they always update the balance every month, but this time, they changed the status of from 08/98 (when the charge-off was) to 02/04. Basically, to any potential creditor quickly scanning my report, it looks like my charge-off happened last month and not almost 6 years ago. Are they allowed to change this? And furthermore, are they allowed to change something that I didn't ask them to investigate? Thanks for any help!
For some reason, EQ will dispute inquiries on the phone. One day and they're gone - poof! EXP and TU will not. TU can happen over time using bumpage, if you don't know, search for the term. EXP is hopeless, it's like a two year old tatoo of every bad application decision I've made...
