Is This Harassment?

    Hello, All:
I am new to this site and need some advice.

To make a long story short, I was served a court summons on 8/23/06 by a debt collection attorney who is suing me on behalf of a finance company which I owe money to. Even though the summons clearly stated that I have 30 days to respond, their attorneys are continuing to call me up to seven times a day. Under the FDCPA, does this constitute harassment? Because if it does, I am going to report them to the FDCPA and whoever else needs to know.

    Many thanks.

I would say that this is pretty serious harassment and you are protected from this.

Read/search these boards as there is lots of advise on how to handle the harassment.

Start by keeping a log of the date and time of every call - even if you don't answer it. The burden of proof is on you. If you have caller ID --- go back as far as you can on your phone and write it down.
