I have disputed a couple of accounts on my TU report using the STANDARD dispute letters and today I get this letter that on the very first page states under the GENERAL POLICY if I think that the credit reapir service charged too much fees that I can report them etc... I think I read somewhere on here before about this type of statement but I was wondering if this is something they always send or if I am the only one who has received such a thing. Should I reply with the "I am not a credit repair company" letter or just leave it alone? Also on page 2 I get this statement under Verification Documents not available: We store information in our records as it is supplied to us by creditors. When information is disputed we are required to investigate and record the current status of the information we DO NOT provide dispute verfication responses received from creditors If you need information about the verification to contact my creditors? What is that all about I thought they were suppose to supply me with something should the accounts come back as mine? Then they list a bunch of my creditors on the next page with address etc... The final page is the "dispute status" that states when they (TU) received my CRRR and that they are conducting an investigation regarding the accounts I disputed and when they are done (30 days) they will send a written response and or a updated credit report. I am just wondering if all of this that TU is telling me is STANDARD mailing that they would send anyone who is disputing info because I do not like the credit repair company part at all. And it seems as though many sections make no sense. The verification part is another that makes very little sense to me so any help you guys can give I would really appreciate it since I am just starting my long road to fixing my credit thanks in advance
Hmmm~ I've never gotten that crap. What I would do is write them back CRRR and tell them that you are merely exercising your lawful right to validation. You are not a credit repair organization, nor have you ever enlisted the help of one. Go on to say that you want them to investigate, not cloud the issue at hand with lenghty responses that do not pertain to your dispute. I'm sick of TU. Tell 'em the truth. IMHO. Anymore advice out there?
When I was disputing, I would get a standard letter from TU each time stating they have received my dispute and are verifying and that I will receive the update in 30 days. The credit repair stuff is common that they often send out. Ignore it.
I got one of those letters when I sent via CRRR, and got a more shorter I guess revised version when I sent via Fax. It looks pretty standard that they send these responses, like LKH said I'd prob just ignore it.
Thanks for all the responses. It looked to me from all the info they sent that it was a standard insert that they send out. I also received a page that had info about public records then at the bottom it states I have no public records on file so this is one reason I think they just throw all of this paperwork together and leave it up to you to decide what applies to you and what does not.
