Is this permissable purpose?

You get a pre-approved MC offer. You send it in. They want verification of address, income, etc. You do not send it back and decide not to open the account. They pull an AR.

Did they have a permissable purpose to pull the AR inquiry?

    Dear Love,

I think it is because you sent in the app. It sounds like they did start your account, which means you'd have a business relationship with them.

    Experts?

I would say NO...BUT...did you tell them to CANCEL the application because you are going to verify NOTHING?!?!?!?!

Nope, the application was not cancelled.

If the account was OPENED...then they need NO verification...

Just DISPUTE the AR..."I DON'T HAVE AN ACCOUNT WITH XXX BANK...SO THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO DO AN "AR" ON A NON EXISTANT ACCOUNT...PLEASE REMOVE".

Well, is there a way to get rid of the hard inquiry?

Try it...you haven't got anything to lose...except the inquiry...
