It actually worked!

I was having a little problem with Experian. I had a child support tradeline $85,000. They re-aged it and the drop off date was anywhere between 2001-2011.

I noticed this small discrepancy and sent them a letter along with all the credit reports with different dates. I gave them 7 days to correct the problem. Actually, I told them to delete it.

I was looking at my dates and I was due tomorrow, I went online to Experian and IT WAS GONE!!!. Not only that I gained 29 points!

I never would have known what to look for or how to dispute this if it weren't for everyone here.

It's kinda funny, my husband was asking me tonight if I actually follow the advice given here. I told him damn straight I do! And then I pulled up the Experian results.

Once again, I want to thank everyone for all of your help and advice. Now that I have actually accomplished something I feel a little more confident in giving some advice to others.

    Thanks again, gang.

Wow - they cleared it in less than 7 days?? Interesting since they should know they have 30 days. Congrats on the score jump! Just curious - what range is your score in?

But hey, if they're being generous in handing out deletions then I'm getting in line :)

I know. I was shocked too. My score now is 534. Not much to get excited about. But is is going up. This was a major thing that I didn't know how I was going to get rid of.

    Tommy:

My dispute was worded rather crudely. I just said this item had been re-aged and then I copied in the FCRA regarding re-aging and them I told them to delete it based on that and if they didn't delete it I copied in the FCRA on reporting inaccurate information and how much money I would sue them for. I gave them 7 days to complete this as I was not asking for a re-investigation.
    That's about it.

If you want I'll post the letter.
