I have been working on my credit report for many years. In the last three years, I have raised my credit score and found no problems on it. Recently, I downloaded a copy of my credit report after receiving a really low opening balance for a new card. I had not opened any new cards in several years to raise my score and to receive the better offers. Since I now have worked on my installment loans (I receieve the best possible rate on all of them), I decided it was time to find a good card. So I thought. When I pulled my report, I found 7 negative reports on it. They are all incorrect. I need to find the best way to remove all of them. I not only want the balances down to 0 (which they all are) but I want them completely off my credit report.

After reading through several pages of this site, I am wondering if they best way to start is to send letters of validation?

You say there are 7 negatives that you don't know what they are? Are these showing on all 3 reports?

1st of all I am concerned where did these negatives come from? Did someone steal your identity and open these fraudulently? If so you need to follow a different process which is one I am not entirly familiar with but involves a police report etc.

Don't send any validations out just yet. It needs to be determined whether the negatives are fraudalent or not before progressing further.

    Good Luck!

They started out as mine. I was a few months late but never in collections. I have all documents showing that they have been paid. One shows as a charge off (which has been paid in full BEFORE charge off), other was also paid in full but shows as balance. The other is a phone bill (also pd but can't seem to get off of credit report). Then there was a charge card that I went back and paid. A collection agency sent me a letter stating that I still owed 150 but I was able to get a copy of the pd in full letter from that c.c. company and faxed letter to them. It is still showing on my report as owing $. At one time they all were owed money but now I owe nothing but my student loans (in good standing plus paying extra). I need to know the best way to get these negative items off my credit report. All were paid before things should have been placed the way they were on the c.r. Yes, I made some mistakes and have fixed them but on the report the items look worse than they actually were.

Dispute them through the credit reporting agencies and pinpoint specific data fields. As old as they likely are and since they're paid, it's unlikely that many would be verified.

You may not have much luck with "not mine" if it really is yours. That's why Apex said to target specific data fields.

You should dispute things like status, dates, balances, etc. A general "not mine" doesn't work well anymore.
