Hi Creditnet, Here is my issue. I have a charge off with JC Penney. It has been "supposely" charged off to a CA. I have already did a DV with the CA. They have not contacted me back at all or placed the account on my credit file. So now I would like to deal directly back with JC Penney which I think I can. What I want to know is has anyone dealt with directly with JC Penney after a Charge Off? Does any one have any direct contact information on whom I can contact there. I would like to clear this up as soon as possible.
Are you in a position to pay in full, if Penney's were to agree to take the debt back from the CA? It's difficult for me to imagine that they'd accept payment arrangements to do so. Anyone else?
I'm in a position to pay back the debt as it's only $600. So that's not really the problem. What I'm looking for is if anybody has any success with them on this. If so, who did they contact?
GE Capital owns the JCPenney card. If you call a catalog desk at any JCPenney store, they will give you the contact # for GE Capital.
It's only listed by JC Penney but they have it listed as a paid charged off. The last CA to contact me I sent them a DV letter, never heard back them again. So now, I just sent the CEO a letter to see how we can come to a resolution to on the account. But what I was looking for was to see if anybody had dealt with JC Penney regading charge off's and what the result is. And if they were successful who did they speak with at Penney. I had read on one of the boards of someone contacting the CEO and him clearing up their issue. So I'm just hopping for the same as I just want to the pay off the debt but also have it reflect as a positive tradeline.
Re: Re: JC PENNEY Charge Off Issue. NEED he It's only listed by JC Penney but they have it listed as a paid charged off. ===================== Since it's a paid charge off Why pay IT AGAIN?
Re: Re: JC PENNEY Charge Off Issue. NEED he it's reporting as a paid charge off from Penney's but I never paid it. The only reason I care right now is I'm about to apply for a mortage in a month and I don't want a CA to pop up on it because of it. Also, if I pay it in full it will turn my tradeline from a charge off to a positive tradeline which shoud help my FICO. Otherwise, I probally wouldn't be worrying about it much right now.
Re: Re: Re: JC PENNEY Charge Off Issue. NEED he Its undoubtedly listed as a 'paid' chargeoff because many times when a CA pays the OC for an account, even though they may only pay less than ten cents on the dollar for the account, the OC bookkeeps it as 'paid'. It's more as an accounting item. That way the OC writes it off in their paid column. When the OC accounts it as 'paid', then they are done with the account and rarely will deal with the account holder.
Re: Re: Re: JC PENNEY Charge Off Issue. NEED he Yeah, I hear ya. On the surface that looks like the case but you never know. Plus when I call them it takes to GE Card Services Recovery Division or something to that effect. That leads me to belive that maybe, just maybe they still have the account. But I shall see real soon. I'll keep everybody posted of what happened.
Re: Re: Re: JC PENNEY Charge Off Issue. NEED he Have you tried disputing this as "not mine" - my wife had a JCP charge off for about $500 which was four years old and all three CRA's removed this. Good luck!
Re: Re: Re: JC PENNEY Charge Off Issue. NEED he I did that initially but it came back verified, so I'm kinda out of luck on that. I wish it did though.
Re: Re: Re: Re: JC PENNEY Charge Off Issue. NEED he I sent off a PR letter at the time but it came back with the standard lame form letter they send everybody. But right now, because I want to apply for a mortgage in the near future, I don't want any suprises to be thrown my way. So in my case because the debt is not a lot of money I would perfer to just pay it. Since it was charged off, it has never been reported to any CRA from CA. With that being said I figure I give JC Penney one last shot at this.
