Hey, just got another copy of my Equifax Report, I looked carefully and found that JC Penney is reporting another account from 4/1997, DOES NOT SHOW PAID AS AGREED, it says "Unknown" Balance $0, Credit Limit $ 670.00.

then it says 30days past due 00 times; 60 days past due 00 times; 90+ days past due 00 times PAID ACCOUNT/ZERO BALANCE. this is the only account that shows this crap!

I notice that this account is Duplicate, it's the same number as the card in my wallet, the one in my wallet has higher limit $ 3,000.00+ and it's updated monthly, this duplicate account is not. I only have one JC Penney Card, the problem is, when you buy major purchase they go and automaticaly open another internal account and it gets reported to CRA, I have about 4 more of these type of accounts, one of them is listed as Installment the rest revolving, should I get them off my report and just leave my original account? of will this hurt my score? since they are old.

I notice Trans Union is only reporting 3 account like this and Equifax is reporting 5. I'm thinking if I get these removed from Equifax my Equifax score will go up like Trans Union??? less accounts?

I have tangled with this beast before with this issue on my JCPenney acccount,& eventually got them to understand the problem(after addressing the corporate office).

I started with disputing with the CRA,in which the account came back "verified";all of this occured after JCPenney started having their accounts serviced by Monogram Credit Card Bank of Georgia.

Therefore,I took the information from the CRA to send a letter(certified)to address the duplicated matter, which they sent a generic letter stating that they will have my accounts updated.

    (NEVER DISPUTED BALANCE,ONLY DUPLICATED ACCTS).

They obviously did not read my CAREFULLY composed letter detailing my concern,so off went letter #2 which was updated with a few more words.

Needless to say,the same thing happened again....I was EXTREMELY PISSED because all I was getting was this generic bullcrap.

I called the corporate office of JCPenney here in Plano,Texas & spoke with a lady in the Consumer Affairs office which understood what I meant & was very instrumental in getting the duplicated entry cloaked from the CRA'S.

My belief is that when MCCBG took over the account, they combined my regular/major accounts & never closed the original account # that had the prior balance(which had trailing # behind the account # to identify regular/major).

Your best bet may be to contact the corporate office for assistance with this matter (972-431-1000).

    Best Wishes,

Thanks for this information, how old where your account when you disputed them? did your scores go up or down? one of mine is listed as Installment and other as Revolving, where yours listed the same?

    Thanks! =)

I have had my JCPenney account since 1978,& I noticed a slight increase in my score since they deleted the 2nd entry to reflect the correct amount outstanding.

When they merged my regular/installment accounts to one, they stopped updating the old regular account balance & zeroed out the installement account(so it looked as if I owed TWICE the actual amount for regular.....when I didn't).

In my opinion, they were not able to "split" accounts like before(may be a software issue),& that is perhaps what happened.

This same thing happened when GECapital sold their Levitz accounts to Household Bank & my deferred payments were co-joined to my regular account when the promo was due to expire in 6 months(NOT !)

They started billing finance charges that were not due until 6 months later,& I called to see what the matter was.Needless to say, they tried to blow me off with their lack of understanding(but I keep D-E-T-A-I-L-E-D records & had everything/anything they wanted to see).

After doing the tango with their consumer affairs,I have about $160.00 in finance charges reversed & the account was paid in full LONG before that 6 months came around.
