Hey, goeast. I have really enjoyed my JCB card. Unfortunately they recently closed accounts if you weren't in the states mentioned above. I will be back in Chicagoland soon so I may have my account reopened. The JCB bonus points are great. You receive 1 point (equal to $1) for each $100 you charge on the card in the billing cycle. If I remember correctly, the points do not expire as long as you remain current on your account. When you request, they will apply the dollar amount saved to your account balance. The grace period is 25 days (which is almost unheard of anymore- LOL) and the interest rate is average for a rewards card at approx 12%. Customer service is AWESOME and they are VERY friendly. The only downside is that they are not 24 hours and they are closed on the weekend, but I think the hours are about to be extended soon (I remember reading somewhere). The only other downside is you are not able to manage your account on the web. They are working on this and it should be available soon. I use online bill pay through my bank which works fine. The cards are pretty cool looking and in the U.S., you will DEFINITELY get second looks as this card is not as widely known in the U.S. as it is in Asia. JCB is considered the American Express of Japan. Hope this helps you some. Good luck!!
When I called to get an application they were really friendly. They said any derogs must be at least 2 years old. They have a secured card too. I've heard people complain about not being accepted as much as Visa, etc. Most hotels and travel related businesses accept it and Mobil accepts it too. I would imagine high end retailers like Neiman Marcus probably accept it too.
Re: Re: JCB USA card Heylo miles, THANKS again for the answer. I know their rebate is very attractive but I have to find out more whether they are widely used world wide. Do you refer people using this card? or just plain interested on the cash back. (^.^) Rgds, goeast
Re: Re: JCB USA card You're right bigmon. Neiman Marcus does accept the card. It is also accepted at Kmart, Radio Shack, Earthlink, Sprint Long Distance, Amazon.com, Chili's restaurants, Sears, Lawry's restaurant, Saks, Tommy Hilfiger, Coach, Gucci, Nordstrom's, Banana Republic, Fendi, DKNY and Gap. There are many others, but these are the places I have used my card.
Re: Re: JCB USA card Infact i have never seen JCB sign on any store before but i will find out when i go shopping at big department store tomorrow Rgds, goeast
Re: Re: Re: JCB USA card I think the cashback is great!! I have used the card at all of the places listed above and a few others. The card is widely accepted at many hotels worldwide as well as many airlines. I would not use this as my only major credit card. It is just another option to enhance/compliment your credit portfolio. JCB is trying to gain more market share and the card is being accepted more and more. They list new merchants accepting the card on your monthly statements.
