I went to the bank to get a loan and the loan officer told me that I had an old bill with jcpenney and it was on my credit report now this is going to make my payment higher so the loan O. said to call the credit bureau and fined out, so this bill is from 1994 that I did not know was on my credit report I didn't know I owe it. so I would like to know is there anyway to get this off my credit report in the state if arkansas there is a statute of limitation of 5 year after 5 years they can collect on a debt or put on your credit report so if you can let me know what I can do
Harra, When was the last time you made a payment on the card? If it's 1994, it should be deleted. Negative information can only be reported for 7 years. What does the credit reporting agency say the date of last activity was?
the last payment would have been some where around 1993-94 I know for sure that there have been no payments made
You can try an online dispute with the credit bureau that is reporting it, or since it is past the SOL and obsolete, you may just call the bureau and say you want it off NOW because it is more than 7 years old. HTH
